Phage Lambda P Protein: Trans-Activation, Inhibition Phenotypes and their Suppression
The initiation of bacteriophage λ replication depends upon interactions between the oriλ DNA site, phage proteins O and P, and E. coli host replication proteins. P exhibits a high affinity for DnaB, the major replicative helicase for unwinding double stranded DNA. The concept of P-lethality relates to the hypothesis that P can sequester DnaB and in turn prevent cellular replication initiation f...

متن کاملp-Lambda-bounded variation
A characteriation of continuity of the $p$-$Lambda$-variation function is given and the Helly's selection principle for $Lambda BV^{(p)}$ functions is established. A characterization of the inclusion of Waterman-Shiba classes into classes of functions with given integral modulus of continuity is given. A useful estimate on modulus of variation of functions of class $Lambda BV^{(p)}$ is found.
متن کاملStability puzzles in phage lambda.
In the absence of RecA-mediated cleavage of the repressor, the lambda prophage is exceptionally stable. We develop a stochastic model that predicts the stability of such epigenetic states from affinities of the molecular components. We find that the stability, in particular, depends on the maximum possible cI protein production, and on the number of translated cro proteins per transcribed mRNA....
متن کاملRNA polymerase interaction with dnaB protein and lambda P protein during lambda replication.
The Escherichia coli GroP- phenotype, associated with some dnaB mutants and measured as a decreased ability to plate lambda bacteriophage, was altered by some rpoB mutations. The rpoB effect showed an allele specificity. The participation both of dnaB and of lambda P alleles in the GroP- phenotype was also allele specific. It was concluded that RNA polymerase, dnaB protein, and lambda P protein...
